It has been an unprecedented stretch for your Penticton Vees, as the team has now dropped 6 in a row following a pair of weekend games. A streak like this has not been seen in our city for decades, showing how blessed we are to have such a winning tradition in the Peach City.
FRIDAY – Wenatchee 2, Penticton 0.
-Sometimes the bounces don’t go your way, OR you run into a hot goalie. Both happened on Friday night in Washington state as the Wild scored late in the 2nd period, and that goal stood ’til an empty netter sealed a 2-0 loss in Wenatchee. The Vees outshot the Wild more than 2 to 1, and saw goaltender Tobias Tvrznik make 41 saves, and was named the game’s 1st star.
SATURDAY – Vancouver 5, Penticton 1.
-‘Vees Fight Cancer’ Night saw a crowd of more than 3400 in the stands for a tough 5-1 loss to the Giants. Vancouver scored the 1st 3 goals of the game before Gavin Katz’s power play goal in the 2nd saw the Vees get on the board. A couple more Vancouver goals put this game away. For the 2nd straight game, the Vees fired 41 shots on goal and netminder Burke Hood was the 1st star making 40 saves.
-An Alberta road trip on tap now for the Vees…maybe a few days on the bus will get the boys back on track. Their 3 game set starts tomorrow in Calgary, as the Vees take on the Hitmen with a 6pm puck drop, and heard on Summit 800, and 98.5 in Summerland.
