OPP officer killed near Hearst, Ont

A 29-year-old OPP officer has been killed on duty in a rural area near Hearst.

The force says two-and-a-half-year veteran Constable Tarun Bali was part of an investigation in Kendall Township, southeast of Hearst at noon hour Tuesday.

All the OPP is saying is that the officer was seriously injured and died at the scene. There is a suspect in custody.

Bali was assigned to the Dufferin detachment but was on deployment with the James Bay detachment.

While the investigation proceeds, anyone with information is asked to call the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
