Cops across the region are on their annual Cops for Kids bike tour to raise money for children in need and will be stopping in communities across Southern B.C.
The ride began in Kelowna, with stops in Peachland, Summerland, Penticton, Oliver, Grand Forks, Castlegar, Nelson, Creston, Cranbrook, Golden, Revelstoke, Salmon Arm, Kamloops and Vernon over the 10-day ride before completing the tour back in Kelowna.
Funds raised during the tour will support children facing serious medical, physical or traumatic challenges. To join the ride, each rider had to raise $2,500.
“It’s amazing to see how much effort the riders are pouring into this fundraiser,” said retired RCMP superintendent and Cops for Kids president Brent Mundle.
“Our team members go above and beyond not just in uniform, but in how they give back. The ride is challenging, but it’s a small effort compared to what the kids and families go through. That’s what keeps the team pedaling.”
Eighteen officers are taking part in the ride, with one rider each from Lake Country, West Kelowna, Vernon, Kamloops, Cranbrook and Lone Butte, two each from Kelowna, Nelson and Creston, and six from Penticton.
