Free transit offered in Penticton for Canada Day; Kelowna adds extra buses

Transit riders in Penticton can travel free on Canada Day as BC Transit rolls out holiday service across several communities in British Columbia.

Penticton transit will operate on its regular weekday schedule Wednesday, July 1, with free service on all local routes. handyDART service will also be free.

In Kelowna, transit will operate on a Saturday schedule. Regular fares will apply, but BC Transit said it will dispatch additional buses throughout the day to help accommodate increased demand during Canada Day celebrations.

Several other transit systems around the province will also offer free service or modified schedules for the holiday. Details are available on the BC Transit website.
