Temporary service interruption at South Okanagan General Hospital emergency department

Residents in Oliver and the surrounding area are advised of temporary changes to emergency department hours at South Okanagan General Hospital.

Emergency services will be unavailable from 5 p.m. Friday, May 8, to 7 a.m. Saturday, May 9. Patients can access emergency care at Penticton Regional Hospital during that time.

All other inpatient services will continue at South Okanagan General Hospital.

People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care, including chest pain, difficulty breathing or severe bleeding, should call 911 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.

Anyone unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted can call HealthLink BC at 811 or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
