As the deadline fast approaches, BC political parties are busy lining up candidates to run in the BC provincial election. The BC NDP have chosen Tina Lee to run as a replacement for Amelia Boultbee in the Penticton-Summerland riding.
Boultbee chose not to run, feeling she didn’t have a legitimate chance of winning the riding after crossing the floor from the B.C. Conservatives. Boultbee was elected as a BC Conservative in 2024 , then chose to leave the party and sit as an Independent, before joining the NDP.
Ironically, it was Lee who ran against Boultbee in the 2024 election as the NDP candidate and trailed Boultbee in the final count by over 300 votes.
On her social media feed, Lee stated, “I am incredibly honoured to be your BC NDP candidate for Penticton-Summerland! We have so much more to do, and I’m ready to keep fighting for our community! With the provincial election on October 24th, the real work starts right now!”
Other candidates in the Penticton-Summerland riding are Tracy St.Claire of the B.C. Conservatives and Warren Hamm with the One BC Party. The final day for candidates to submit their nomination packages through Elections BC is Saturday, with the provincial election set for October 24th.
