Updates: Boil water notice rescinded for all Summerland areas

Boil Water Notice Rescinded: Water Safe to Consume

The boil water notice issued earlier today has been rescinded. Water within the Summerland distribution system has been tested and is rated “Good,” and is now safe for normal consumption and use.

Original Story

A boil water notice is in effect for the entire community of Summerland, B.C. Officials said updates will be shared as more information becomes available.

Residents are advised not to consume tap water without boiling it first.

Water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use. The notice applies to drinking water, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, and making ice, juice or baby formula.

Residents may also use bottled water.

Tap water can still be used for bathing and showering, although officials advised residents to avoid swallowing the water.

“We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience while crews work to resolve the issue,” officials said.

The notice will remain in effect until further notice.
