Posse rally past Dynamiters, move within win of KIJHL title

The Princeton Posse are one win away from a KIJHL championship after rallying for a 6-4 victory over the Kimberley Dynamiters on Saturday, taking a 3-2 lead in the series.

Princeton fell behind 3-1 midway through the first period but quickly turned the game around, scoring four unanswered goals from late in the opening frame through the first eight minutes of the second.

Justice Loewen powered the comeback with a hat trick and four points, including an empty-net goal to seal the win. Bryton Morrow scored the winner during the surge.

“Juice was great,” said Posse head coach and general manager Colin Minardi of Loewen’s play. “When he’s going, he’s pretty unstoppable. It’s infectious so he pulled some guys into the fight with him. That whole line was really dialed in on both sides of the puck.”

Gibson Horne made 25 saves on 29 shots to earn his third straight win in the series.

The Posse’s power play played a key role, generating multiple goals on six opportunities, while adjustments to their five-on-five play in the offensive zone helped swing momentum.

Kimberley was led by Luke Davies, who scored twice, while Nate Tillmanns added a goal and two points.

Attendance was 1,569 at the Kimberley Civic Centre.
