The Princeton Posse leaned on another strong performance from goaltender Gibson Horne to earn a 1-0 win over the Kimberley Dynamiters and even their series 2-2.
Horne stopped all 24 shots he faced for his second consecutive shutout, backstopping a disciplined defensive effort.
Princeton got the only goal it needed early, capitalizing on the power play at 5:56 of the first period.
“That’s been one of our looks for a while now, it just so happens the play developed that way and we made a good play,” said Posse head coach and general manager Colin Minardi.
The Posse finished 1-for-3 on the power play and controlled key stretches of play, particularly in the offensive zone.
Minardi said he was encouraged by his team’s ability to get pucks deep and sustain pressure. “We had kind of gotten away from that early on in the series, but it’s nice to have that back. It helped us sustain offensive zone time that maybe we didn’t have previously.”
Adam Kisilevich made 33 saves for Kimberley, including 15 in the second period, to keep the game close.
The series now shifts to Kimberley for Game 5 on Saturday, April 25, with Game 6 set for April 27 in Princeton.
