Princeton Posse edge Dynamiters in OT, trail series 2-1

The Princeton Posse kept their season alive with a 1-0 overtime win over the Kimberley Dynamiters, cutting into the series deficit, which Kimberley still leads 2-1.

Goaltender Gibson Horne was the difference for Princeton, stopping all 36 shots he faced in front of a crowd of 450 at the Princeton and District Arena.

“Gibson was great for us,” said Posse head coach and general manager Colin Minardi. “He made some outstanding saves to keep us in it.”

After withstanding sustained pressure from Kimberley, the Posse broke through on the power play in overtime. Ben Dods scored the winner on Princeton’s fifth opportunity, beating Adam Kisilevich, who made 38 saves in the loss. Justice Loewen and Carson Hebert assisted on the goal.

“We’ve been stressing net presence and traffic all series, even 5-on-5,” said Minardi. “It just looked like Shutts (Jace Shuttleworth) was able to hold his ground net front this time and Ben was able to pick his spot.”

Minardi said his team showed inconsistency at times but delivered when it mattered most, overcoming stretches where they gave up too many odd-man rushes.

With the win, the Posse gain momentum heading into the next game as they look to even the series.

Puck drops at 7 p.m. for game four tonight in Princeton.
