Jets bring former Steam defenceman Tamminga back as assistant coach

The Summerland Jets have added a familiar face to their coaching staff, hiring Bailey Tamminga as an assistant coach for the 2026-27 season.

A native of Penticton, B.C., Tamminga is no stranger to hockey in Summerland. He joined the Summerland Steam as an affiliate player during the 2016-17 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League season before becoming a full-time defenceman with the club the following year.

Tamminga later moved to the Alberta Junior Hockey League, where he spent three seasons with the Drayton Valley Thunder. During his final season in 2020-21, he served as an assistant captain.

After completing his junior career, Tamminga played with the Penticton Silver Bullets men’s team before moving into coaching.

The Jets are welcoming Tamminga back to Summerland as he begins the next chapter of his hockey career behind the bench.
