A British Columbia man has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from an investigation into a dark web network that mailed illegal drugs across Canada.
The RCMP said the 29-year-old Victoria man pleaded guilty in July after being extradited to Canada from Germany.
Police said the sentence followed a four-year federal investigation. Investigators said the interprovincial network used cryptocurrency, the dark web and Canada Post to sell and distribute drugs across the country, including pills containing fentanyl.
RCMP said Oliveira Scott was initially arrested in February 2024, after a police search of a Lower Mainland home. They said he left for Germany before charges were laid.
He was arrested by German authorities earlier this year, following a Canada-wide warrant and Interpol Red Notice, and has been in custody in Canada since April 1.
Oliveira Scott was initially charged with five counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and five firearms-related offences.
RCMP said he pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking a controlled substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, and three firearms related offences.
Another man, Treshaun Thompson, is also facing charges in the same investigation. However, RCMP has said the 28-year-old is missing, and was last seen in Victoria in early September 2025.
