South Okanagan transit leader recognized among BC Transit SuperStars

A longtime Penticton Transit employee is being recognized by BC Transit for his contributions to public transit in the South Okanagan.

Bruno Rempel, fleet maintenance manager with Penticton Transit, has been named a BC Transit SuperStar and is the recipient of the annual Rodi De Vuono Award for Outstanding Service.

According to BC Transit, Rempel has spent 20 years helping maintain the local transit fleet and is known for his attention to detail and commitment to keeping vehicles safe, reliable and ready for service. BC Transit said he consistently demonstrates a positive, solution-focused approach and regularly meets or exceeds expectations during fleet inspections.

“BC Transit is grateful and proud of the latest Transit SuperStars, who have displayed consistent commitment and care in their work,” said Jim Ross, vice-president of operations and chief operating officer for BC Transit.

“Public transit is more than just getting people to their destination safely, it’s about community. These honourees deserve all the accolades and acknowledgement we can give them for their dedication.”

Rempel was among five individuals and one team recognized through BC Transit’s annual Transit SuperStars program, which celebrates employees and partners who make significant contributions to transit systems across the province.

The winners were honoured at an awards dinner held during BC Transit’s Partner Engagement Workshop in Penticton.

BC Transit said recipients are selected based on one or more of the organization’s core values: Safety First, Adapt and Thrive, Community Minded and Team Spirit.
