Kootenay residents felt an early-morning jolt Thursday after an earthquake struck near Crawford Bay
According to Earthquakes Canada, the quake struck at 5:31 a.m. southeast of Crawford Bay at Grey Creek.
The U.S. Geological Survey has measured it at magnitude 4.2, while Earthquakes Canada currently lists it as magnitude 3.7.
Shaking was felt throughout the region, including the Nelson, Kaslo, Trail, Slocan Valley and Creston areas. People as far east as Cranbrook also reported shaking to Earthquakes Canada.
EmergencyInfoBC said there have been no reports of damage and advises people to drop, cover and hold on if they feel shaking.
