Warren Hamm withdraws from B.C. Conservative leadership race

The B.C. Conservative leadership race is down to five candidates after Warren Hamm said he’s withdrawing from the race.

The Rossland contractor and aircraft maintenance engineer said Sunday he’s endorsing Yuri Fulmer for the leadership.

Fulmer is a Vancouver-based entrepreneur and chancellor of Capilano University.

Former B.C. Liberal labour minister Iain Black, political commentator and former BC United vice-president Caroline Elliott, former federal Conservative MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay, and Kamloops-Centre MLA Peter Milobar also remain in the race.

Hamm is the latest to withdraw from a field that once totalled 11 candidates.

Surrey-White Rock MLA Trevor Halford has served as interim leader since John Rustad stepped down in early December.

The party said a new leader will be announced May 30.
