Osoyoos RCMP said a single vehicle collision on Highway 3 near Osoyoos on Saturday killed one person, and alcohol is believed to have played a role.
RCMP said a truck carrying a ladder and a boat rack left the roadway and hit an embankment near Hewitt Road.
Officers and medical personnel attended the scene, but despite efforts, a 23-year-old passenger from Penticton was pronounced deceased.
RCMP said they believe alcohol was involved, however, an investigation is still ongoing.
Anyone with information, dashcam footage or was witness to the crash is asked to contact RCMP.
