Hundreds of long-term care and senior residents are being moved from Summerland facilities as Interior Health responds to the Bald Range wildfire.
Interior Health said it is relocating 48 residents from Dr. Andrew Pavilion and working with Retirement Concepts to move 190 residents from Summerland Seniors Village to alternate locations away from the affected area.
The relocations affect 238 residents in total.
Families are being contacted directly and will be told where their loved ones have been temporarily relocated, Interior Health said. Further updates are expected once the moves are complete.
People requiring emergency medical care should go to Penticton Regional Hospital. Interior Health said it is also working to maintain services for clients who receive care in the community.
The health authority said it is working with local governments, regional districts and the BC Wildfire Service to protect patients, community clients and people in long-term care as wildfire conditions evolve.

Interior Health said it continues to monitor wildfire activity across the region and encouraged residents to prepare for wildfires and deteriorating air quality.
