The Summerland Jets Junior Hockey Club says it plans to compete in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) and is not part of a newly announced unsanctioned junior league.
The organization made the statement as speculation continues about the breakaway league.
“We are continuing to work with the KIJHL and remain confident that we will be facing off in the upcoming season. Our focus is on building a strong, sustainable program that competes at a high level while representing Summerland with pride,” said Terry Rolston, board chair of the Summerland Jets Junior Hockey Club.
The team framed its launch as a broader milestone for the community.
“This is more than just a team, it’s the beginning of a new era for hockey in our community.”
