Vees Up In Playoff Battle

The Penticton Vees won their 1st ever playoff games in the WHL, winning on home ice this past weekend to lead their best of seven series with Seattle 2-0.

FRIDAY – Penticton 3, Seattle 2 (Overtime)

-A wide open 1st game saw the Vees fire 45 shots at the Seattle net, and goaltender Marek Sklenicka stopped 42 in a losing cause. In the extra frame, Penticton outshot the T-Birds 6-1, and Charlie Michaud’s 1st ever WHL goal was the OT winner! Brady Birnie and Jacob Kvasnicka also tallied for the Vees.

SATURDAY – Penticton 4, Seattle 1

-Another big 1st period for the Vees, firing 15 shots on goal, paced them to a 2-0 1st period lead, and eventually a 4-1 win. Louis Wehmann, Tristan Petersen, Jacob Kvasnicka and Ryden Evers all found the back of the net for Penticton, going up 2-0 in the series. A.J. Reyelts had another strong game in goal for the Vees, stopping 29 of 30 shots fired his way.

The series now shifts to Seattle tonight and tomorrow, as Penticton looks to take a stranglehold on the series, and punch their ticket to round 2. Puck drop tonight and tomorrow is at 7pm, and both games heard on Summit 800 in Penticton, and 98.5 in Summerland.
