New judge appointed to serve in Penticton

A new Provincial Court judge has been appointed to serve in Penticton, aiming to improve access to justice for residents of the South Okanagan.

Tina-Marie Bradford will take her seat on the bench Feb. 9, following her appointment by the provincial government. The judiciary has assigned her to the Penticton court.

Bradford brings more than 25 years of legal experience, including work in labour law, civil litigation and human rights. Her career began with the B.C. Ministry of Attorney General, where she worked as a Crown counsel victim service worker.

Since 2003, she has served as in-house legal counsel at the B.C. General Employees’ Union (BCGEU), where she later became a senior litigator. Bradford also mentored students and young lawyers, and led training programs on bias and social context in legal settings.

Her appointment fills a vacancy created when a previous Provincial Court judge was elevated to the Supreme Court.

The Ministry of Attorney General said Bradford’s background and regional assignment reflect a commitment to ensuring courts have the capacity to serve communities across the province.
